National Pie'n'Mash Week
The annual celebration of Cockneys’ favourite food takes place Monday March 10th -16th.
We’re busy campaigning to gain what’s called Protected Food Status (as already given to the likes of Cornish Pasties and Bramley apple pies), for our beloved Pie’n’Mash.
For business owners - we have a range of free downloadable promotions for you to make the most of the special Week’s opportunities.
We’re encouraging everyone to enjoy Pie’n’Mash.
Why not take a child or youngster a ‘Pie’n’Mash Newbies’ to enjoy their first taste and receive a special commemorative certificate.
Or if you know a grown-up who has yet to taste its delights share the pleasure and earn a ‘No longer a Pie’n’Mash Virgin’ recognition.
Or for regulars, try different shops and be a Pie’n’Mash tourist and become a ‘Pie’n’Mash Pilgrim’.
The Modern Cockney Festival
National Pie’n’Mash Week is organised as part of the Modern Cockney Festival (March 1st to 31st) that celebrates the culture, heritage, and identity of ‘non-posh Londoners’, based on positive, inclusive values.
Discover which of the four Cockney tribes you might belong to. Are you ‘Old School’, ‘New School’, ‘Cockney Diaspora’, or ‘Ancetsral Cockney’.

Leading TikTok influencers are doing The Pie and Mash Pilgrimage: 7 Pie Shops in 7 Days spending a week visiting Pie’n’Mash shops, inviting their followers to become ‘pilgrims’ and join the journey.
Commenting on their journey, Danny and Carlene said: "We’ve had two pie shops close their doors since the pandemic, so we know first-hand how important it is for people to get behind their local Pie’n’mash shops. The only way it survives is if we keep eating it, simple as that”.
“We’ve got loads of followers who’ve never had proper Pie’n’Mash and always ask to tag along, so we thought why not make a tour of it for Pie’n’Mash Week? Seven shops, seven days, and everyone’s welcome!”
To join the pilgrimage and for more details head over to TikTok @cockneyandcaribbean.
Sir Michael Caine
For Pie’n’Mash business owners, why not offer a free cup of Rosie Lee on Sir Michael Caine’s birthday to respectfully pay our birthday wishes and show our great affection for the legendary actor.
Offer to any customer prepared to do a Michael Caine impression, or shares their two favourite films of his, or tell a fact about Cockneys that not many people know about.
